Battery Services

Monitoring

We perform continuous remote monitoring of all individual battery cells, accessible through a web-based dashboard. You can download reports of historical data and the high level status of the battery system.

Capacity Guarantee

We guarantee that the energy storage capacity of the Octave battery cabinet stays at a minimum of 70% of the original capacity, with a maximum number of cycles of 600 per year and a duration of 12 years.

Optimal Control

We optimize the charging and discharging of the battery system throughout the operational life of the battery, in real time. This way, you are sure that your battery system delivers maximum return on investment.

Indoor battery cabinet

The indoor Octave battery cabinet houses the second-life batteries and all protective equipment and switchgear needed for the smooth operation of the batteries. Thermal management is regulated through ventilation. The total energy storage capacity of the system is 121 kWh.

We provide a bidirectional battery inverter together with our indoor battery cabinet.

The outdoor Octave battery cabinet consists of an outdoor rated, double-walled (insulated) cabinet with an HVAC system and an integrated heater. It houses two strings of second-life batteries connected in parallel, and all protective equipment and switchgear needed for the safe and smooth operation of the batteries. The total storage capacity of the batteries is 242 kWh.

Monitoring

Our Battery Cloud technology allows us to collect extensive data on each battery cell in the battery system. Analytics running in the Battery Cloud make it possible to identify in advance which battery modules are at risk of degrading below 70% of their original capacity.

As part of the monitoring service, we will:

  • Perform continuous and remote monitoring of all individual battery cells;
  • Make this data available through a web based dashboard and report of historical data and the high level status of the system;
  • Provide an ad-hoc report of the state of health per battery module on request;
  • Inform you when a specific battery module degrades below 70% of its original capacity.

Capacity Guarantee

As part of this service, we guarantee that the energy storage capacity of the Octave battery cabinet stays at a minimum of 70% of the original capacity, with a maximum number of cycles of 600 per year and a duration of 12 years.

The service covers the replacement of degraded battery modules via predictive maintenance. We, or our maintenance partner, will come on site to replace the degraded battery modules with healthy battery modules. The purchasing cost of the modules, preparation of the module by charging it to the right voltage and transportation of the modules are all included in the fee for the Capacity Guarantee.

Contracting the Battery Monitoring service is a prerequisite to the Capacity Guarantee.

Optimal Control

As part of this service, we optimize the charging and discharging of the battery system throughout the operational life of the battery, and in real time. This way, you are sure that your battery system delivers maximum value.

Optimization of self-consumption is included with this service. The battery is charged when there is an excess of solar production and discharged to avoid consumption from the grid.

In addition, we offer the following applications:

  • Peak shaving: lowering the peak consumption or production profile of the site. This application is combined with the optimization of self-consumption.
  • Grid services: charging your battery to support the overall balance of the electricity grid and e.g. avoid a blackout. In this application, your battery system will be partly controlled by the grid operator (Elia). For this service, we will transfer a share of the revenue received by the aggregator from the grid operator. The payment is done through self-billing on a quarterly basis.
