Business Developer (F/M)

Your role
- You will help build Octave's commercial strategy and convince SMEs and industrial companies of the added value of our innovative battery systems.
- In this role, you implement and refine Octave’s go-to-market strategy. You continuously identify sales opportunities and advise and support customers.
- You are responsible for Octave’s sales process from start to finish. You qualify inbound leads and look for new business opportunities through various channels (cold calls, email, Linkedin, networking…). You follow up on leads and manage the entire process until closing.
- Your excellent communication skills ensure a strong relationship with Octave’s potential customers and partners. You are Octave’s eyes and ears in the market: by identifying the needs of our customers, you propose suitable solutions within Octave's portfolio.
What you will bring to the team
- Solid work experience in commercial / project development in the energy sector (B2B), preferably in energy storage solutions or renewable energy sources.
- Good understanding of energy markets.
- Sufficient technical background to master basic electrical engineering concepts around renewable energy.
- Clear hunter sales attitude.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to give engaging presentations.
- Experience in developing and implementing a commercial strategy in the renewable energy sector. Ability to perform market segmentation and identify customer needs.
- Desire to work in a fast moving and entrepreneurial environment.
- Fluency using MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and similar tools.
With some (or all) of the following points, you have a clear plus:
- Master's degree in the field of economics or engineering, or equivalent level of experience.
- Fluent in Dutch and English (French is a plus).
- Hands-on experience in go-to-market strategies with a track record of achieving sales quotas and targets.

Senior Back-end Developer (F/M)
Are you an experienced back-end developer, proficient in python, C, C++ and java? Do you want to put your talent to use and contribute to the energy transition by building innovative battery energy storage systems?
Your role:
- You will be responsible for the development of breakthrough software enabling our sustainable battery energy storage solutions.
- You will have the opportunity to design and develop our scalable cloud platform which allows to handle large data streams from our battery energy storage systems in the field and enable powerful analytics.
- You will develop the software running on our battery energy storage systems, optimizing the energy flows in the battery.
- You will work in close cooperation with the founding team (CTO, Data Chief, CEO) to radically improve our current software stack and create a scalable software architecture.
- You are actively encouraged to think with the team for improvements on our products and act as the expert on software development and architecture within the company.
What we are looking for:
- Senior experience in back-end development, with the ability to write top-quality code in python, C or C++ and java.
- The ability to create and implement a scalable back-end architecture to support our battery cloud analytics and IoT connectivity.
- Experience with IoT, edge computing, cloud connectivity and setting up data pipelines.
- Proficiency in designing and optimizing SQL (PostgreSQL & TimescaleDB) database architectures.
- Expertise on AWS, git, docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, ssh, bash, etc.
- Ability to work independently, have a clear sense of ownership and deliver with highest quality.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English.
With some (or all) of the following points, you have a clear plus:
- Experience in front-end development and web applications.
- Experience with industrial data protocols, such as modbus, canbus, rs485, etc.
- Experience with data analysis: creating dashboards, developing, validating and optimizing algorithms, data exploration, etc.
- Experience with embedded system design and programming.

Data Scientist (F/M)
Are you an experienced data scientist? Do you know how to create reliable predictions and optimal decisions based on complex and large datasets? Do you want to put your talent to use and contribute to the energy transition by building innovative battery energy storage systems?
Your role:
- You will be responsible for the development of breakthrough data analytics capabilities enabling sustainable battery energy storage solutions.
- You will have the opportunity to work with unique and large datasets from our sustainable battery systems.
- You will be creating breakthrough algorithms for battery state estimation, lifetime prediction and to optimize the energy flow in the batteries.
- You will work with top-tier research institutes in our research projects.
- You will work in close cooperation with the founding team (CTO, Data Chief, CEO) to radically improve our battery monitoring and control algorithms.
- You are actively encouraged to think with the team for improvements on our products and act as the expert on data science within the company.
What we are looking for:
- Senior experience in developing and deploying control and predictive algorithms in a production environment, with the ability to write top-quality code in python.
- Knowledge and practical experience with machine learning, predictive modelling, optimal control, dynamic programming, reinforcement learning, etc.
- Ability to present complex data in a user-friendly and insightful way in graphs and interactive dashboards.
- Experience in ETL / ELT and in building efficient data pipelines.
- Background in Li-Ion batteries and battery state estimation algorithms.
- Ability to work independently, have a clear sense of ownership and delivering with highest quality.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English.
With some (or all) of the following points, you have a clear plus:
- Experience in C, C++ or java.
- Experience in SQL database design and optimization.
- Knowledge of stochastic convex and non-convex optimization methods.
- Knowledge of Kalman filters and other online state estimation techniques.
- Expertise on AWS, git, docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, ssh, bash, dbt.
- Experience in building data-intensive web applications with knowledge of HTML, CSS, javascript, and python web frameworks (django, flask, streamlit, dash).
- Good understanding of energy markets.
