Business Development Manager (F/M)
Are you an experienced Business Development Manager who wants to use your talent and contribute to the energy transition? Do you want to help create a market for innovative and sustainable products in the French speaking part of Belgium?
Your role
- You will help build Octave's commercial strategy and convince SMEs and industrial companies of the added value of our innovative battery systems and top-notch energy management solutions.
- In this role, you implement and refine Octave’s go-to-market strategy. You continuously identify sales opportunities and advise and support customers.
- You are responsible for Octave’s sales process from start to finish. You qualify inbound leads and look for new business opportunities through various channels (cold calls, email, Linkedin, networking…). You follow up on leads and manage the entire process until closing.
- Your excellent communication skills ensure a strong relationship with Octave’s potential customers and partners. You are Octave’s eyes and ears in the market: by identifying the needs of our customers, you propose suitable solutions within Octave's portfolio and provide input to the product team on relevant market requirements.
What you will bring to the team
- Solid work experience in commercial / project development in the energy sector (B2B), preferably in energy storage solutions or renewable energy sources.
- Good understanding of energy markets.
- Sufficient technical background to master basic electrical engineering concepts around renewable energy.
- Clear hunter sales attitude.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to give engaging presentations.
- Experience in developing and implementing a commercial strategy in the renewable energy sector. Ability to perform market segmentation and identify customer needs.
- Desire to work in a fast moving and entrepreneurial environment.
- Fluency using MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and similar tools.
With some (or all) of the following points, you have a clear plus
- Master's degree in the field of economics or engineering, or equivalent level of experience.
- Fluent in French and English.
- Hands-on experience in go-to-market strategies with a track record of achieving sales quotas and targets.

Full Stack Developer (F/M)
Octave is a cleantech scale-up on a mission to deploy sustainable and circular energy storage solutions. We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer, proficient in Python.
Do you want to put your talent to use and contribute to the energy transition by building innovative battery energy storage systems?
Your role
- You will develop, design and maintain Octave's web applications, with a strong focus on our Energy Management Platform. You will be responsible for building high-quality, scalable solutions that meet both our clients' needs and our business goals.
- You will work closely with other team members and external parties (e.g., designers, developers, management) to build attractive data-intensive applications.
What we are looking for
- Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer, with a strong focus on Python web frameworks such as Django or Flask.
- Proficiency with front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue or Svelte).
- Ability to work independently, have a clear sense of ownership and deliver with highest quality.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English.
With some (or all) of the following points, you have a clear plus
- Expertise in intuitive and engaging data visualizations for complex time-series data.
- Experience with SQL database architectures (e.g., PostgreSQL or Timescale) and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB)
- Experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
- Strong understanding of UX principles and ability to design clear and user-friendly interfaces.

Your role
You will manage our current research projects and be responsible to set up new research projects. You will work in close cooperation with the founding team (CTO, CIO, CEO) and be in contact point with top-tier research institutes and universities.
You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of research projects.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with research institutes, universities, and industry partners.
- Writing and reviewing high-quality research proposals, presentations, and deliverables.
- Identifying new research areas and proposing innovative projects aligned with the company objectives.
- Developing and leading the research team.
What we are looking for
- Senior experience in research project management, with experience in projects regarding batteries, energy storage, or energy management.
- A strong network of contacts within the research community.
- Ability to deliver top-quality deliverables on time and within budget.
- Proficiency in writing and reviewing technical documents.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with cross-functional teams.

- A PhD in a relevant field such as battery technology, energy management, or a similar discipline.

Backend Developer (F/M)
Octave is a cleantech scale-up on a mission to deploy sustainable and circular energy storage solutions. We are seeking an experienced Back-end Developer, proficient in Python.
Do you want to put your talent to use and contribute to the energy transition by building innovative battery energy storage systems?
Your role
- Develop effective and scalable code and contribute to the development of our battery management systems, our energy management systems, and our web applications.
- Build and maintain our cloud platform, handling large data streams from our batteries in the field and executing advanced analytics.
What we are looking for
- Experience in software development, with the ability to write top-quality code in Python
- Experience in building scalable cloud architecture to support our battery analytics and IoT connectivity, ideally in AWS.
- Experience in managing and optimizing SQL database architectures (such as PostgreSQL or Timescale)
- Ability to work independently, have a clear sense of ownership and deliver with highest quality.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English.
With some (or all) of the following points, you have a clear plus
- Experience with data engineering: setting up ETL jobs, ML-Ops, and modelling data for analytics.
- Experience with data analysis: creating dashboards, developing, validating and optimizing algorithms, delivering key data and insights to the business.
- Experience in developing web applications using frameworks such as flask, django, nicegui, or streamlit, with some knowledge of front-end programming languages.
- Experience with industrial data protocols, such as Modbus, Canbus and RS485.
