First Octave One Liquid-Cooled Battery Installed
Ensoltec has achieved a milestone by installing one of the very first Octave One liquid-cooled batteries in Belgium. The system, with a capacity of 100 kW / 233 kWh, has been deployed at a large laying hen farm.

Why liquid cooling makes a difference
Unlike conventional air-cooled systems, this battery uses a liquid cooling circuit to keep temperature under precise control. The result is:
- Higher performance and efficiency
- Extended battery lifetime
- Stable operation even under heavy cycling
This technology ensures reliable energy storage and flexibility for businesses with intensive power needs.
Smarter energy, lower costs
The installation is integrated with around 70 kWp of solar on site. Combined with Octave’s EMS, the battery balances self-consumption with imbalance market arbitrage.
Because the farm has deliberately limited its grid connection to 60 kW to avoid high monthly demand charges, the battery plays a crucial role. It helps keep consumption within that limit, reduces exposure to grid tariffs, and generates additional income by participating in the imbalance market together with Yuso.
Future-ready farming
By coupling solar PV, intelligent consumption, and liquid-cooled storage, this poultry farm is making its energy setup more sustainable and resilient. The project shows how innovative technology, through the partnership of Octave, Ensoltec and Yuso, can help businesses thrive in today’s challenging energy landscape.
